2019-12-20: More confirmed vND cases in southern California

At this writing, the number of confirmed vND cases in southern California, continues to increase.  Our State Veterinarian, Dr. Annette Jones, “strongly advises postponing all poultry shows in high risk areas OUTSIDE of the current vND regional quarantine, particularly those in the Central Valley of California.”

I extend my thanks to the membership and officers of the Greater California Society of Poultry Fanciers who have voted to cancel their 2020 Fresno show.  I do believe that actions based on scientific evidence and those that take into account risks to the livelihood of one’s neighbors, are always rewarded.

Please, please maintain the highest level of biosecurity possible.  So much is at stake - we all need to work together and eradicate this disease.
