2019-08-30: Positive vND in San Diego

A positive vND flock in San Diego County was confirmed.   PLEASE obey the  Quarantine orders.   Even if you are outside the Quarantine Area, practice the highest levels of biosecurity.

2019-08-15: New vND finding in San Bernardino County

August 15, 2019

After a 2 month period with no new positive vND findings, there has been confirmation of a new positive in San Bernardino County.   Everyone must be on high alert.   Exercise the highest levels of biosecurity.

2019-04-05: vND found in Arizona

Dr. Bradley is relaying the following announcement from USDA: “The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed the presence of virulent Newcastle disease (VND) in a small flock of pet chickens in Coconino County, Arizona. This is the first case of VND in Arizona.”

2019-01-18: VIRULENT NEWCASTLE DISEASE (VND) OUTBREAK CONTINUES

 The vND outbreak shows no signs of letting up.   We now have 3 commercial chicken ranches in Southern California that have been depopulated.  This week, our State Veterinarian – Dr. Annette Jones – released the following relative to upcoming poultry shows (and other live bird events):

To support our disease containment and eradication efforts, the California State Veterinarian is recommending that all poultry exhibitions that include birds from high-risk counties (Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura) be cancelled.
